Summary
Join Keller Postman as a Workup and Settlement Attorney to lead a team of Case Managers in a large consolidated mass tort. You will manage case progression, prepare cases for settlement, guide clients through the offer process, and collaborate with team members. This role involves regular on-call duties and requires strong communication and organizational skills. The ideal candidate possesses experience in a high-volume plaintiff's firm and familiarity with medical records. Requirements
- Be open to learning and performing unconventional, heterogeneous legal work that requires intensive interaction with clients and non-lawyer colleagues
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Word, and Adobe Acrobat
- Possess excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Be able to function well in a fast-paced, demanding environment
- Possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Possess excellent time-management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
- Be able to maintain a good temperament and demonstrate empathy when dealing with clients in stressful situations
- Be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment
- Be able to multi-task and work independently or as part of a team
- Hold a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Have three to five years of experience in a high volume PI or Plaintiff’s firm
- Be a current member of the Illinois Bar and in good standing
- Be able to read, write, and speak fluent English
Responsibilities
- Lead a pod of Case Managers working up settlement-eligible clients, evaluating decision points such as reviewing notes, medical records, and related documentation to determine case progression
- Manage client interactions during the offer process for settlement offers generated by the pod, ensuring clear communication and support throughout
- Coordinate with Case Managers, legal assistants, and other team members to execute casework efficiently and effectively
- Serve as the on-call attorney as part of the elevation rotation once every 1-2 weeks
- Interact with clients, outside counsel, experts, and vendors as necessary to support case resolution
- Contribute to refining the firm’s settlement processes to ensure efficiency and consistency
- Work closely with partners and associates on specific tasks related to assigned cases
Preferred Qualifications
- Have experience with Salesforce (ideally) or other CRM or case management software
- Have experience reviewing medical records and familiarity with medical terminology—especially for cancers and related conditions
