Requirements
- 5β7+ years writing performant, maintainable SQL and developing scalable data models
- Proficiency with dbt, SQLMesh, and modern cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience with ingestion tools like Fivetran, Airbyte, or Meltano
- Strong understanding of version control, code reviews, and testing best practices
- Ability to communicate complex data concepts clearly across technical and non-technical teams
- Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Omni, Tableau, or Hex
- A documentation mindset that supports knowledge sharing and transparency
Responsibilities
- Data Modeling / Transformation
- Create clean, scalable, and documented data models, often using tools like dbt (data build tool)
- Define business logic in the warehouse to support analysis (e.g., metrics, dimensions, aggregations)
- Write SQL-based transformations to turn raw data into analytics-ready formats
- Follow best practices in modular code, version control, and test-driven development
- Pipeline Development
- Collaborate with data engineers to build and maintain ETL/ELT workflows
- Ensure pipelines are reliable, monitored, and cost-efficient
- Collaboration / Empowerment
- Work closely with data analysts, product managers, engineering, and other cross functional partners to understand needs and deliver usable data assets
- Champion data quality, consistency, and literacy across teams
- Documentation & Governance
- Maintain clear documentation for datasets, definitions, and assumptions
- Promote best practices in data access, usage, and stewardship
Preferred Qualifications
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge in Python
- Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, Prefect
- Familiarity with CI / CD workflows
- Hands on experience with Data Observability tools like Monte Carlo, Metaplane, or Elementary Data
