Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, or related field
- Ability to clearly define and follow federal, state and local regulatory requirements
- Ability to operate field equipment, including GPS equipment, cameras, and tablets
- Ability to manage field crews and to logistically support project decisions
- Excellent writing skills (writing samples will be requested)
- Willingness and ability to travel to a project location for several consecutive days
- Team-oriented attitude and approach
- A valid driver’s license and active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment
- As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre - employment drug test and background check
Responsibilities
- Implement archaeological survey, excavation, and monitoring projects under the direction of the principal investigator
- Conduct literature reviews and archival research
- Assist with research design, scopes of work, and permit applications
- Assist with project-related client/agency/tribal coordination
- Direct fieldwork in-person and supervise field crews
- Review the field crew’s daily logs and other field forms, notes, and collected GIS data for quality control
- Assist with laboratory analysis for collected materials and coordinating with our laboratory manager for collections processing, analysis, and curation
- Author technical reports
- The applicant will have excellent written and oral communication skills and will use these skills to work collaboratively with existing Dudek staff and produce high-quality, timely deliverables for clients
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree (Master’s or Doctoral degree in archaeology or anthropology)
- Meets the SOI’s Professional Qualifications Standards for Archaeology
- Listed as a Registered Professional Archaeologist (or qualified for RPA status)
- Listed as an Oregon Qualified Archaeologist with SHPO (or qualified to become an OQA)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in cultural resource management, or equivalent experience in regulatory setting
- Knowledge of the history, archaeology, and ethnography of the Pacific Northwest
- Demonstrated laboratory and technical analysis expertise
- Knowledge of and experience using ESRI ArcGIS Online and Field Maps
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships
- Ability to provide and receive positive and constructive feedback
- Ability to resolve conflict through collaboration and communication
