Summary
Join Axonius' Legal team as a Privacy Counsel and support the company's global data protection and privacy compliance needs. This role involves drafting and negotiating DPAs, advising on privacy and data security in commercial transactions, managing cross-team efforts related to DSRs and customer privacy inquiries, and supporting privacy program updates. You will work closely with various teams and contribute to AI governance and assessments. The ideal candidate is a business-minded attorney with 5+ years of experience in DPA negotiations, vendor privacy risk assessments, and advising on global data protection issues. Requirements
- LLB (or equivalent legal) degree; current Bar admission; CIPP/EU/US or a similar certification
- 5+ years of legal experience in DPA negotiations, vendor privacy risk assessments and advising companies on global data protection issues, ideally at both a law firm and a tech/SaaS company
- Excellent knowledge of global privacy and AI laws, including GDPR, CCPA, PPL, EU AI Act
- Experience maintaining privacy and AI governance programs
- Exceptional communication (making complex topics easily-digestible for business people) and project management skills, ability to calibrate risk and to lead cross-functional teams
- Service-oriented and responsive attitude, strong attention to detail, hard-working and committed to providing an excellent work product
- Impeccable professional ethics, integrity, and judgment
- Able to work independently but with full recognition of areas of limitation and need for support (humility and honesty appreciated!)
- Teamwork-oriented attitude and sense of humor
Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate DPAs, advise on privacy and data security in commercial SaaS transactions (customers/vendors)
- Support procurement privacy program management (e.g. vendor privacy risk assessments, vendor privacy classification and mapping, etc.)
- Manage our cross-team efforts related to DSRs and customers privacy inquiries
- Support privacy program updates (e.g. privacy policies, LIAs, DTAs, RoPs, privacy training, etc.)
- Support AI governance and AI assessments
- Support privacy audits
- Track new privacy/AI laws and regulations in the US, EU, Israel and globally to ensure an ongoing ability to provide compliance advice
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with OneTrust
- Experience working at a successful, high-growth SaaS company or in the cybersecurity industry
- Curious about innovation; strong understanding of SaaS products and interest in technology
