Summary

Join Natera's Oncology Research Bioinformatics team as an Associate Director, leading a team of Bioinformatics Scientists. You will plan and execute exploratory research projects, developing innovative algorithms on ultra-deep sequencing data. This role requires strong leadership skills, a background in algorithm and assay development, sequencing data processing, and experience with the full product development life cycle. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate findings, and present results internally and externally. The position offers the opportunity to publish research and improve analysis pipelines for diagnostic tests. Requirements

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Biostatistics, or related field
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of working in the bioinformatics field and extensive managerial and cross-functional experience
  • Track record of leading and developing state-of-the-art and highly impactful computational methods
  • Highly experienced in algorithm development, data analysis, and machine learning
  • Experience with multiplex PCR and hybrid capture data
  • Experience in Python
  • Experience using Linux command-line tools and writing shell scripts
  • Ability to visualize findings and summarize results in oral and written form for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • High scientific rigor and eager to teach and learn about new computational methods and biology

Responsibilities

  • Envision, plan, and execute research strategies in collaboration with other cross-functional stakeholders
  • Drive the development of innovative algorithms on ultra-deep sequencing data
  • Lead a team of Bioinformatics Scientists and support their professional growth
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including engineering, biostats, and molecular biology teams, to support the development of new products
  • Lead assay development and optimization, and troubleshoot wetlab experiments through close collaboration with wetlab scientists
  • Communicate findings clearly across all levels and functions of the company and act as a subject matter expert
  • Prepare deliverables and present results to both internal and external collaborators
  • Present results at conferences and publish in top-tier journals
  • Develop and improve analysis pipelines for diagnostic tests, including variant detection and quality control
  • Deploy analysis pipelines on the cloud and optimize resource utilization
