Summary
The Occupational Therapist provides therapeutic interventions to restore function and prevent disability for patients suffering from injuries or diseases. They assess, develop treatment plans, and measure patient progress, educate patients on home exercise programs, and act as a liaison between patients and doctors. A valid Occupational Therapist License is required, along with a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy.
Requirements
- Must have a valid Occupational Therapist License (for the state you practice in)
- Master or Bachelors degree of Occupational Therapy required
Responsibilities
- Provides therapeutic interventions to restore function and prevent disability for patients suffering from injuries or diseases
- Assesses, develops treatment plans, and measures patient progress
- Educates patients on home exercise programs and the use of assistive devices
- Acts as a liaison between patients and doctors
Preferred Qualifications
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive collaborative relationships across all levels
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Must be able to communicate well with patients, co-workers and the general public
