Summary

The Associate Packaging Engineer will work cross-functionally within HARIBO to assist with the development of new and modified packaging components, manage packaging specifications, and commission new packaging equipment related to packaging materials. The position is located at HARIBO’s brand new food manufacturing plant in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, or closely related Engineering degree
  • CAPE Pack or TOPS software experience
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time locally, between the manufacturing plant in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and our corporate office in Rosemont, Illinois, as well as occasional domestic travel to suppliers or distribution centers

Responsibilities

  • Assist with packaging trials, on-site at our manufacturing plant in Wisconsin, testing of new or alternate packaging material to evaluate performance
  • Assist with protocol development for packaging testing
  • Support project engineering in the installation of new packaging equipment by validating packaging material designs and assisting in equipment qualifications and start-up
  • Develop relationship with manufacturing production teams to learn machinery and equipment capabilities
  • Reporting of findings, research and evaluate packaging materials for quality, durability, and sustainability standards to meet HARIBO’s high standards
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of packaging specifications, testing results, and project progress
  • Willingness to travel 20% of the time locally, between the manufacturing plant in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and our corporate office in Rosemont, Illinois, as well as occasional domestic travel to suppliers or distribution centers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work experience or internship experience related to Packaging Engineering
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in packaging
  • Experience with ISTA test method preferred
