Summary

Join Oscar's Government Affairs team as an Associate, State Advocacy and become a key contributor to mission-critical workflows. You will track legislative and regulatory developments in assigned jurisdictions, draft summaries, and assist the Director with communications and strategy. Responsibilities include preparing analyses of policy matters, presenting to internal and external audiences, supporting external meetings, and partnering with colleagues to communicate developments. You will also support sustainable processes, manage multiple assignments, and contribute to cross-training. This role requires a Bachelor's degree, 3+ years of legal or regulatory experience in health plan/managed care, and 2+ years of experience with state political and legislative processes. The position offers a blended work culture with remote options and competitive compensation, including benefits and bonuses. Location is flexible, but you must reside in one of the specified states.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in legal studies, political science, public policy, public administration, public health or other relevant field, or a combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of legal or regulatory experience, in the health plan/managed care space
  • 2+ years experience working with state political and legislative processes

Responsibilities

  • Be the subject matter expert on assigned state policy and legislative matters
  • With support from the Director of State Government Affairs, prepare concise, user-friendly summaries and analyses of regulatory, legislative and policy matters
  • Present to internal and external audiences in appropriate forums on priority legislative and regulatory policy developments
  • Support the Director of State Government Affairs in external meetings with trade associations, lobbyists and other partners
  • Partner with PRO Counsel, Government Affairs colleagues, and partners to break down and communicate legislative, regulatory and sub-regulatory developments
  • Support sustainable processes which simplify our growing team's outputs while ensuring high quality deliverables
  • Deliver multiple, simultaneous and diverse assignments while following deadlines
  • Support cross-training and knowledge development across Oscar
  • Perform related tasks as assigned by Government Affairs Counsel
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the Affordable Care Act and Healthcare.gov or other State-based Exchanges
  • Experience with Oscar markets
  • Experience working with attorneys and team members
  • 2+ years experience in Google Workspace
