Summary

Portnoff Law Associates is hiring an Attorney to conduct a 'meaningful attorney review' of files and determine the next steps in their collection process. The Attorney will sign pleadings, handle communications with counsel and property owners, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Requirements

• Know and apply relevant federal and state laws, including but not limited to the Municipal Claims and Tax Liens Act, 53 P.S. §7101, et seq., the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and the Fair Credit Extension Uniformity Act (FCEUA)
• Excellent organization, prioritization and time management skills
• Dependable with strong work ethic and personal integrity
• PC Proficient: Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams)
• Familiarity with Collection Partner or a similar collections database is a plus
• J.D. with Pennsylvania License
• Entry-level Attorney with up to 3 years of experience

Responsibilities

• Review and sign pleadings
• Resolve any issues where pleadings are not ready to be filed
• Review files to ensure validation of the debt pursuant to FDCPA and diary them appropriately for next steps
• Review files to ascertain whether notice requirements under 53 P.S. §7106 are met
• Sign legal demand letters and resolve any issues where they are not ready to be mailed
• Ensure service of writ of scire facias has been made according to Rules of Civil Procedure
• Prepare, review and sign Rule 237.1 notice of intent to enter default judgment
• Communicate with counsel and property owners by phone and/or email as needed
