Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited university
  • A minimum of a 3.0/4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally when needed, up to 25%
  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Beginner’s level of understanding in the areas of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and willingness to become familiar with AICPA, GAO, and FASAB regulations and requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to perform work that requires attention to detail, analytical ability, and organization
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Associate in performing test procedures
  • Examine accounting documents to verify accuracy and compliance with policies, procedures, and acceptable accounting standards
  • Prepare work papers and supporting documentation
  • Use current technology/tools to enhance the effectiveness of deliverables and services
  • Assist in the creation of proposals and other new business development efforts
  • Analyze reports, statements, and accounting records of an internal or external entity to ensure accurate calculations
  • Detect and report any discrepancies within a company or other agency's financial records
  • Trace errors back to the source and communicate the error to his/her supervisor
  • Reconcile proprietary and budgetary accounts
  • Post account entries
  • Review federal funds control
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisors

Preferred Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in accounting from an accredited university
  • Aspirations for a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license
  • A writing sample
  • A US Passport
  • Effective communication, which is key in explaining audit findings
  • Problem-Solving Abilities that will help you analyze problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and make sound recommendations to address issues and improve reporting accuracy
  • High ethical standards and professionalism; Our positions require us to uphold integrity, maintain confidentiality, and approach our work impartially and objectively
  • Internship experience working as an accountant or consultant for a public accounting firm or a professional services firm
