Backend Engineer

Summary

Join BlaBlaCar's Discover squad as a Confirmed Backend Engineer and contribute to the development and maintenance of scalable and reliable landing pages. You will participate in all phases of projects, from design and development to deployment and support. Collaborate with product and design teams to identify relevant features and share your technical expertise with various teams. This role requires 3+ years of experience in Java development, familiarity with Spring, Spring Boot, and other relevant technologies, and strong communication skills. Requirements

• You have 3+ years of experience from companies with a strong engineering culture, within a growth context
• You are fluent in Java and know frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit, and Mockito
• You have hands-on experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes , and monitoring solutions (Datadog)
• You know what service-oriented architecture looks like, and you can determine when to apply a given architectural pattern
• You have good communication skills, you’re humble and you're a team player
• Full working proficiency in English

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design, development and maintenance of our Java microservices that serve landing pages on the BlaBlaCar platform
• Contribute in all phases of a project, meaning: discovery, development, test strategy, QA, deployment to production, without forgetting observability and support
• Collaborate with product and design teams to find the most relevant features for our members
• Interact with people with different roles and backgrounds, and sharing your technical expertise with a mix of technical, product and business experts

Preferred Qualifications

Some knowledge or prior experience with Ruby on rails
