Backend Engineer

As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping our backend architecture, scaling our systems, and driving high-impact engineering and product initiatives. You'll work cross-functionally to influence technical direction and mentor engineers, helping us build a world-class engineering team. This role is for our new Enterprise product—a 0-1 initiative with a small, focused team. We’ve already signed initial customers and are seeing strong early traction. You’ll help define core features, lay the technical foundation, and collaborate closely with leadership. It’s a pivotal moment for CoinTracker as we expand from a single-product company to a multi-product platform—and you’ll play a central role in our next chapter.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience
• Strong CS fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, system design, and performance optimization
• Proven experience building and scaling products through rapid growth phases
• Track record of technical leadership, leading complex projects, mentoring engineers, and setting engineering standards
• Experience with large-scale data ingestion and processing systems
• Drawn to an early-stage, high-growth startup environment
• Fluent in Python

Responsibilities

• Architect backend systems, including to serve as the foundation of a new 0-1 product
• Lead and drive critical technical projects, making high-impact decisions that shape the product and ensure long-term maintainability and performance
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and other teams to align technical execution with early-stage product goals and customer feedback
• Mentor and guide engineers, fostering technical excellence and best practices across the team
• Continuously improve system performance, observability, and maintainability to support rapid iteration
• Take ownership in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment, balancing speed with technical rigor in service of early customer needs
