Backend Engineer

Requirements

• Have experience solving complex technical challenges at scale
• Ensure a high bar for quality and reliability on your team
• Coach others on your team to help them develop as engineers
• Advocate for a more thorough code review process than a quick scroll to the bottom of the page and a 'LGTM!
• Help design the overall solution, not just write code
• Be someone that your colleagues would actually like to have a coffee with (virtual or not)

Responsibilities

• Work with server-side languages like Kotlin and TypeScript
• Develop cloud environments, distributed systems, and microservices using AWS, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, etc
• Design and implement relational databases using PostgreSQL
• Use testing frameworks like Cypress, JUnit, Testcontainers to ensure quality and reliability
• Implement observability and monitoring using Datadog
• Apply DevOps culture and tools like GitHub Actions, Gradle, Terraform to manage complexity and ambiguity
