Join Halcyon, a leading anti-ransomware platform company, as a mid-level Backend Engineer. Contribute to the development and evolution of our data platform and API services using Scala and C#. Collaborate with product and platform engineers, focusing on building scalable and maintainable backend systems. Develop, test, deploy, and monitor reliable and secure services. Support the migration of APIs from Scala to C# and design systems with robust identity management. Maintain high code quality and participate in design discussions and incident response. Requirements
- 3β6 years of backend engineering experience, with recent experience in a jvm-based codebase
- Familiarity with functional programming patterns and idiomatic Scala
- Exposure to C# or interest in learning it as part of a migration path
- Experience integrating with Identity Providers such as Okta, Auth0, or Keycloak
- Strong understanding of APIs, messaging systems (Kafka), and modern data stores (Postgres, DynamoDB, OpenSearch)
- Experience building services in a cloud-native environment, preferably AWS
- Working knowledge of containers and Kubernetes
- Comfortable working in a remote-first, asynchronous team environment
Responsibilities
- Contribute to feature development across our data platform and public API services, including ingestion, transformation, and enrichment of security data
- Collaborate with product and platform engineers to align on system design, architecture, and data flow
- Develop, test, deploy, and monitor Scala-based backend services that are reliable, secure, and performant
- Support our gradual migration of certain APIs from Scala to C#, ensuring consistency and continuity
- Design systems with identity management and authorization best practices in mind; hands-on experience with OIDC or SAML providers is a plus
- Maintain high standards for code quality, documentation, and operational reliability
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and incident response
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Terraform, Helm, and GitHub Actions
- Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch)
- Prior work in security products, data pipelines, or high-availability systems
