Summary

Join First Connect, a software platform connecting insurance agents with Insurtech providers, as a Mid Back-end Engineer. You will be responsible for rebuilding the company's comparative rater, focusing on user experience, speed, accuracy, and cost. This involves designing flows, handling underlying integrations, and incorporating the rater into a new SaaS offering. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, design, and business teams, as well as insurance carriers. You will implement backends, interact with data stores and APIs, support reliable databases, and deploy software using Kubernetes and Lambda functions. A strong emphasis is placed on security and automated testing. The ideal candidate possesses at least 3 years of Node.js experience and a good understanding of relational databases.

Requirements

  • Have at least 3 years of hands-on experience with Node.js
  • Possess a good, practical knowledge of at least one relational database system, e.g. PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQL Server
  • Can engage in discussions and decisions regarding software design and architecture
  • Have experience implementing the test pyramid (unit, integration, e2e tests)
  • Utilize good security practices effectively
  • Have a good command of English (written & spoken)
  • Show readiness to learn and expand your skill set as required by ongoing projects
  • Are available in the afternoons – we prioritize everyone’s personal time and work-life fit, but since we work in multinational teams, occasional evening meetings may be necessary to ensure smooth communication across time zones

Responsibilities

  • Implement backends and their interactions with various data stores and other APIs (including 3rd party APIs)
  • Work in an agile environment focusing on projects that are impactful on our business
  • Support reliable databases and APIs for real-time automated decision-making
  • Deploy your software using industry-standard tooling like Kubernetes clusters, and Lambda functions
  • Care deeply about security in everything you do and constantly raise the baseline of how we defend our user's data against external threats and themselves
  • Implement robust automated test suites to ensure high quality and low failure rate of delivered code
  • Work in a DevOps style to make sure Defense in Depth principles are followed and containers are as secure as humanly possible

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with TypeScript
  • Experience with git, source control system and code reviews
