Mid Back-end Engineer (Node.js)

Summary

Join us as a Mid Back-end Engineer and contribute to revolutionizing home insurance with Hippo Insurance. You'll implement backends, support databases, and deploy software using industry-standard tooling. We're looking for someone with at least 3 years of Node.js experience, good knowledge of relational database systems, and strong security practices.

Requirements

• Have at least 3 years of hands-on experience with Node.js
• Possess a good, practical knowledge of at least one relational database system, e.g. PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQL Server
• Can engage in discussions and decisions regarding software design and architecture
• Have experience implementing the test pyramid (unit, integration, e2e tests)
• Utilize good security practices effectively
• Have a good command of English (written & spoken)

Responsibilities

• Implement backends and their interactions with various data stores and other APIs (including 3rd party APIs)
• Work in an agile environment focusing on projects that are impactful on our business
• Support reliable databases and APIs for real-time automated decision-making
• Deploy your software using industry-standard tooling like Kubernetes clusters, and Lambda functions
• Care deeply about security in everything you do and constantly raise the baseline of how we defend our user's data against external threats and themselves
• Implement robust automated test suites to ensure high quality and low failure rate of delivered code
• Work in a DevOps style to make sure Defense in Depth principles are followed and containers are as secure as humanly possible
