Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 2-5+ years of leadership experience in bursar, financial aid, or student accounting office
- Able to diffuse difficult student/customer issues
- Effective oral and written communication
- Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
Responsibilities
- Reconcile student payments and ensure all accounts properly reflect a student’s payment history
- Assist the AP/AR Manager with posting cash receipts
- Ensure that all students’ needs relating to required payments are met
- Supervise all bursar functions and related personnel
- Serve as a coach and mentor to all team members; create an environment that fosters growth
- Offer students the highest level of customer service through the billing and collections process
- Hire and train members of the bursar team as well as conduct performance evaluations
- Maintain office policies and procedures as needed and keep updated business practice to achieve institutional goals
- Work closely with student accounting team to ensure billing information matches student documents
- Collaborate with other departments to create stream-lined and effective processes and communications to create a positive experience for the student
- Respond to student needs via email and phone
- Manage team to answer questions about student accounts and takes payments
- Advise students about payment methods, payment alerts and changes to their accounts
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Campus Nexus/Anthology student information system
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
