Summary

The Technical Business Analyst - (BI) is a UK remote role with a fixed term contract that may convert to permanent. The ideal candidate will lead the migration from Cognos to Tableau, provide guidance on best practices, assess and define data quality rules, evaluate and document data models, and create comprehensive documentation for the migration process.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Technical Business Analyst in Business Intelligence projects, with a focus on migrations
  • Expertise in Cognos and Tableau platforms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex data structures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Understanding of data quality principles and experience implementing data governance practices
  • Knowledge of best practices in data modeling and the ability to optimize data structures for reporting and analysis

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive the migration process from Cognos to Tableau
  • Analyze existing Cognos infrastructure to identify key data components, data models, and dependencies that need to be considered during the migration
  • Act as a subject matter expert in Business Intelligence, providing guidance to the project team on best practices, potential pitfalls, and optimization opportunities during the migration
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive understanding of business requirements and data needs
  • Assess and define data quality rules and standards in both Cognos and Tableau environments
  • Collaborate with data governance teams to establish and enforce data quality measures, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of migrated data
  • Evaluate and document existing data models in Cognos, and translate them into equivalent or enhanced models in Tableau
  • Collaborate with data architects and modelers to optimize data structures and relationships in Tableau for improved performance and usability
