Change and Release Planner - ITSM Specialist

Summary

Join the California Independent System Operator (ISO) as a Change and Release Planner! Under the direction of the manager, you will administer and support IT infrastructure Change, Configuration, and Release (CCR) management processes. You will develop and maintain CCR controls, traceability, compliance, and reports, and document processes and procedures. This role also involves providing training on IT Service Management (ITSM) policies and procedures and assisting in resolving change-related issues. The position offers a hybrid or fully remote schedule and relocation assistance. The pay range is $41.76 - $69.60 hourly.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent education, training or experience in Information Technology, Management of Information Systems, or related field
• Equivalent years of education and training, plus two (2) or more years related experience
• Change management, configuration management, release management and document control
• Experience working with ITIL framework, systems administration, databases, Qualys or Tripwire
• Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills required, with a demonstrated attention to detail
• Ability to use deductive reasoning and analytical thinking with sound judgment and decision-making skills
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are also essential
• Must be self-starting and willing and able to work independently in a dynamic and changing work environment
• Problem solving skills with the ability to influence others without direct authority
• Must be able to work effectively in a team environment as facilitator and team member
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Must be able to effectively document and convey technical information to non-technical audiences
• Strong skills in presenting and interacting with internal and external clients

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains configuration and release management records and performs periodic configuration and release audits
• Assists audit teams in identifying and locating production CCR records
• Ensures CCR requests are complete, including impact statements, deployment or implementation instructions, and comprehensive recovery plans
• Ensures proper execution of CCR Management policies and procedures and promotes consistency of procedures and processes
• Analyzes data, makes recommendations for improvements or enhancements to policies and procedures and prepares reports as required
• Provides CCR Management training to all impacted staff
• Tracks and controls CCRs for IT infrastructure and provides accurate and current status, configuration, release, and relational data to customers
• Identifies and validates requirements for the Configuration Management database (CMDB)
• Executes changes to the CMDB in a back-up capacity for the asset and configuration team
• Partners with problem and incident team on change related issues and provides post-incident support

Preferred Qualifications

• ITIL Practice certification desired
• Experience in training a plus
• Experience with ServiceNow desired
