Chemical Engineer

Summary

Join Oklo's fuel recycling engineering team as a Chemical Engineer! You will conduct design, development, prototyping, and validation work on chemical separation subsystems for Oklo’s fuel recycling facility. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on facility design, unit process equipment design, safety analysis, and licensing. This role may also be filled by someone with radiochemistry or process engineering experience. Responsibilities include evaluating existing technologies, developing systems meeting regulatory requirements, defining system requirements, establishing performance criteria, developing and operating a test bed, generating documentation, and serving as a subsystem technical lead. Oklo offers a fast-paced, highly iterative startup environment.

Requirements

Degree in Chemical Engineering or similar

Responsibilities

• Evaluate existing technologies in the national lab and commercial space
• Develop systems that meet facility and regulatory requirements
• Define system and unit process requirements and validation methodologies
• Establish performance criteria, test protocols, and test equipment
• Develop technical parameters, deploy, and operate a test bed to use in refining subsystem design and operation
• Develop process flow sheets and heat and material balances with process simulation tools
• Generate documentation guiding the fabrication, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of subsystems
• Serve as subsystem technical lead through multiple lifecycle stages
• Generate technical documentation to be included in regulatory filings

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using AspenTech, ChemCAD, Promax, etc., for process and equipment design
• Experience utilizing sorbents for gas capture
• Experience deploying or working on pilot plants
• Commercial or governmental nuclear industry experience
