Civil Engineering Technician

Summary

Join our employee-owned team of multi-disciplined engineering and design professionals as a CAD Designer / Technician to support the design of various transportation projects in a challenging, creative, and highly collaborative environment.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree or Certification in Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, or related field
• Previous experience or formal training CADD design/drafting (using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, ORD)
• Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Work alongside other professionals to develop designs for highways, interchanges, roundabouts, and other roadway features in coordination with a multi-discipline team that also includes Traffic, Utility, and Water Resource Engineering
• Participate in project team meetings and interact directly with technical professionals and clients on a frequent basis

Preferred Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of drafting techniques, plan development, quantity takeoffs, and related engineering practices
• Previous coursework or project assignments with an emphasis on roadway / highway design
• Experience in the development of project deliverables including geometric layouts, design plans, and/or the generation and use of 3-dimensional design models
• Knowledge of MnDOT standards and specifications
