Cloud Architect

Summary

Join Rackner, a software consultancy specializing in cloud-native solutions, as a Cloud Architect. You will be responsible for gathering requirements and designing Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud-based system deployments and transitions. This role involves architecting and planning migrations to cloud service providers like AWS, Azure, GCP, and others, acting as a technical lead, and leading the design and recommendation of optimal solutions.

Requirements

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Mathematics (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or Information Systems)
• Master’s degree and 10 years’ experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 14 years of professional experience with: research, design and development of computer and network software or specialized utility which may include database maintenance within an application area
• Experience applying programming concepts in a professional or academic setting
• Experience with applying modern software development methodologies (e.g. agile, DevOps/DevSecOps)

Responsibilities

• Work with end users and application experts to elicit requirements for designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems in cloud based systems
• Lift and shift planning for data migration to and from cloud-based systems
• Ingress and egress planning for data migration to and from cloud-based systems
• Select appropriate cloud services based on data, database, or security requirements
• Manage the integration with on-premises enterprise networks and systems
• Identify appropriate use of cloud architectural best practices
• Estimate cloud costs and identify cost control measures and solutions
• Provide tasking and oversight to other technical team members performing design and architecture
• Provide technical clarity and direction to Cloud Iaas, PaaS, and SaaS Consultants
• Review final work products for accuracy and adherence to design concepts
