Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• 2-4 years of experience in commercial contract law, majority of experience in a corporate or in-house legal environment
• Strong understanding of contract law
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Drafting of Contracts: Prepare, review, and finalize a variety of commercial contracts, including supply agreements, customer agreements, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), licensing agreements, and partnership agreements
• Negotiation of Contracts: Negotiate the commercial terms and conditions with Sezzle’s clients and partners and ensure proper finalization for signatures
• Legal Compliance: Ensure that all contracts comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Provide guidance on legal issues related to contracts and advise on potential risks
• Contract Management: Maintain and manage the contract database, ensuring that all contracts are up-to-date, properly filed, and easily accessible. Monitor key contract milestones and renewal dates
• Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks in contract terms and conditions, and propose appropriate mitigation strategies. Work closely with the Risk Management team to align on risk tolerance and management
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments, including Sales, Finance, Procurement, and Operations, to ensure that contract terms meet business needs and objectives
• Dispute Resolution: Assist in resolving any disputes that may arise from contractual agreements, working closely with external counsel if necessary
• Legal Research: Conduct legal research on issues related to contracts and provide actionable insights to support decision-making
• Training and Development: Provide training to internal stakeholders on contract-related matters, including best practices in contract management and negotiation techniques

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in contract management
• Experience in the fintech or e-commerce industry
