Summary

Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- 2-4 years of experience in commercial contract law, majority of experience in a corporate or in-house legal environment
- Strong understanding of contract law
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and finalize a variety of commercial contracts, including supply agreements, customer agreements, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), licensing agreements, and partnership agreements
- Negotiate the commercial terms and conditions with Sezzleβs clients and partners and ensure proper finalization for signatures
- Ensure that all contracts comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
- Provide guidance on legal issues related to contracts and advise on potential risks
- Maintain and manage the contract database, ensuring that all contracts are up-to-date, properly filed, and easily accessible
- Monitor key contract milestones and renewal dates
- Identify and assess potential risks in contract terms and conditions, and propose appropriate mitigation strategies
- Work closely with the Risk Management team to align on risk tolerance and management
- Collaborate with internal departments, including Sales, Finance, Procurement, and Operations, to ensure that contract terms meet business needs and objectives
- Assist in resolving any disputes that may arise from contractual agreements, working closely with external counsel if necessary
- Conduct legal research on issues related to contracts and provide actionable insights to support decision-making
- Provide training to internal stakeholders on contract-related matters, including best practices in contract management and negotiation techniques
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in contract management
- Experience in the fintech or e-commerce industry
