Summary

Join Our Future Health, the UK’s largest health research program, as a Community Engagement Manager - Innovation & Pilot Delivery. You will lead the implementation and delivery of community engagement pilots to reach underrepresented groups in health research. This role uses a ‘test and learn’ approach to understand what works best for diverse communities, scaling successful initiatives and adapting or discontinuing others as needed. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, manage projects, and advocate for the needs of underrepresented communities. The position requires experience working with diverse groups, strong communication skills, and project management expertise. Remote work is available within the UK, with quarterly travel to London.

Requirements

  • Be able to design and develop engagement pilots based on data and insights, delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions
  • Understand how to evaluate, monitor and assess pilots
  • Have experience and understanding of working with under-represented and diverse groups
  • Be collaborative and be able to build effective working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels and from all backgrounds
  • Have a dynamic, flexible approach, with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Be someone who works well in a busy, changing environment with tight deadlines and takes pride in the little touches that make for strong relationships and excellent events
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex messaging clearly and in a way that is meaningful for different groups of people

Responsibilities

  • Pilot design and development: Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, lead on the implementation and delivery of community engagement pilots to effectively reach, engage and support underrepresented groups
  • Take a ‘test, learn and iterate’ approach, scaling up, pivoting or stopping pilots when needed
  • Utilise data and insights to identify barriers and challenges that underrepresented communities experience, and work with impacted communities and stakeholders to develop solutions
  • Foster innovation by collaborating with stakeholders to conduct ideation workshops, exploring new approaches to enhance our diversity initiatives
  • Work with Science colleagues to put effective evaluation mechanisms in place
  • Project management and reporting Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Manage project teams and coordinate with internal and external partners
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders and senior management
  • Advocacy and outreach Advocate for the needs and interests of underrepresented communities within the organisation
  • Represent the organisation at community events and forums
  • Share insights and learnings across the organisation from your engagement with communities to help improve programme design
  • Researching and understanding the key communities we are trying to recruit and engage with
  • Team support Work collaboratively with the Community Engagement management team to continuously improve how the team works together and operates
