Summary

Join Walden University's School of Nursing as a PhD program Contributing Faculty member! This part-time, remote position offers the opportunity to share your expertise in nursing education and research with students nationwide. You will utilize online teaching platforms, mentor doctoral students, and contribute to a supportive academic community. Compensation is competitive and varies based on factors like course type and experience. Walden provides training and resources to support faculty success. The ideal candidate possesses a PhD in Nursing (or a related field), an active RN license, and a proven record of scholarship and online teaching experience.

Requirements

  • Earned master's degree in nursing (MSN) AND an earned Doctorate/PHD (preferably in Nursing or closely related field) from an accredited institution
  • Expertise in areas of research/scholarship, theory, nursing education
  • A distinguished record of scholarship including externally funded research and peer reviewed publications in Nursing education
  • Evidence of current, active & unrestricted RN licensure in one of the 50 states in the US
  • PhD in Nursing or PhD in other appropriate discipline with expertise in research methods
  • Active RN license
  • Evidence of program of scholarship
  • 1 to 2 years of online teaching in a master’s or higher nursing program

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses using the CANVAS platform
  • Interact with students on discussion boards within the platform, responding to questions within 48 hours
  • Maintain a minimum of 4 days per week of classroom presence
  • Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
  • Publish and acknowledge Walden University if participating in research
  • Serve as committee chair, first or second member of doctoral project study committees
  • May be asked to serve as University Research Reviewers
  • Instruct methodology courses or modules when needed
  • Participate in program and university based residencies
  • Educate Walden University students effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources
  • Adhere to all Walden University Faculty expectations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Online teaching experience
  • Experience serving on dissertation committees

Benefits

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Opportunities for contributing faculty such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
  • Remote work option (if over 50 miles from specified offices)
  • Flexible schedule
