Summary
Join Walden University as a Contributing Faculty Member in our Clinical Mental Health Counseling program! Teach and mentor students online, utilizing our Canvas platform. Engage with students through discussion boards and provide timely feedback. Maintain a minimum of 4 days per week online presence and respond to student inquiries within 48 hours. This remote position requires an earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program, current state licensure, and at least three years of teaching experience at the Master's and/or Doctoral level. Occasional travel may be required for residencies and meetings. Compensation ranges from $700-$4080 per quarter depending on course type and length, with additional opportunities for dissertation chair positions and research work.
Requirements
- Possess an adequate computer, keyboard, pointing device, and monitor to handle the electronic learning platform
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat
- Have reliable internet access with an alternate access plan
- Be appropriately credentialed with an earned degree from an accredited institution in the discipline being taught
- Be licensed or license-eligible to teach in specific programs (as applicable)
- Maintain licenses and certifications to continue teaching
- Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
- Earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program at an accredited institution
- Current state licensure as a mental health professional
- Ability to participate in residencies/pre-practica, national faculty meetings and other work-related travel
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses using Canvas
- Interact with students through the Canvas platform's discussion boards, responding within 48 hours
- Verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions
- Provide feedback and grades to students through Canvas
- Publish availability to students through course syllabi (e.g., online office hours)
- Attend residencies/Pre-practica to teach intensives and colloquia, and facilitate discussions
- Complete training in dissertation chairing and service
- Serve on doctoral dissertations
- Complete other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of experience teaching and mentoring Master's and/or Doctoral level students, including directing thesis/dissertation research
- Ability to provide leadership and mentoring for students in the research process and a strongly student-centered nature
- Interest in establishing a community of mental health students
- Ability to provide leadership and support in program assessment
- Ability to assume a significant role in addressing student questions and concerns about the program
- Experience supervising students in their field training experience
- Commitment to the goals of diversity and social change
- Ability to work with non-traditional students
Benefits
- Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Opportunities for dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
