Join Walden University as a Contributing Faculty Member and share your expertise by teaching online courses to adult learners. You will utilize online technology and resources to deliver engaging and timely instruction. This part-time role requires a PhD in a relevant field and significant experience in your area of expertise. Responsibilities include course teaching using the eCollege platform, providing timely feedback to students, and maintaining availability for student interaction. Faculty members may be required to participate in residencies. Walden University provides training and resources to support faculty members in their roles. Requirements
- Possess a PhD in the field of study or closely related field (or recognized by a countryβs Ministry of Education or Counsel of Higher Education)
- Possess a significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field, including experience in the practice of I/O Psychology, human resource management, organizational development, and general management
- Have two years of experience serving as a chair or second committee member
- Demonstrate a commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment
- Possess teaching, advising, and mentoring skills; demonstrate a commitment to the promotion of applied research, excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills
- Have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, keyboard, pointing device, and computer monitor
- Be able to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat
- Have reliable Internet access as well as alternate access in cases where primary access becomes unavailable
- Be appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught, and may be expected to be licensed or license-eligible to teach in specific programs
- Maintain licenses and any appropriate certifications to continue to teach at Walden University
- Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations. If participating in research, the Faculty Member may publish and acknowledge Walden University
Responsibilities
- Receive specific training from Walden University in teaching techniques, use of the eCollege platform, university policies, procedures, and degree programs, socialization into Walden University culture, assessment of academic integrity of student work (including use of www.turnitin.com), and research supervision of theses and dissertations
- Teach assigned courses using the eCollege platform, interacting with students within the platform
- Respond to student questions within 48 hours as per the faculty handbook
- Verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions, providing feedback and grades through Blackboard
- Maintain reasonable accessibility to students outside the course discussion board, providing substantive feedback on assignments and postings
- Publish availability to students through course syllabi, instructor information in the classroom, and/or other appropriate documents
- Attend Residencies (domestically or internationally, optional for part-time faculty), teaching intensives and colloquia, and facilitating school and university-wide discussions
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Comply with all policies and standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Have two years or more of online or technology-enabled instruction experience
- Have 3+ years of teaching experience at the degree level of the program
- Have experience with distance learning
Benefits
- Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Opportunities for dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
