Requirements
- Possess a PhD in the field of study or a closely related field (or recognized by a countryβs Ministry of Education or Counsel of Higher Education)
- Have a significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field
- Have two years of experience serving as a chair or second committee member
- Have a commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students in a distance learning environment
- Possess teaching, advising, and mentoring skills, and a commitment to the promotion of applied research
- Have excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills
- Have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, keyboard, pointing device, and computer monitor
- Be able to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat
- Have reliable internet access and alternate access in case of primary access unavailability
- Be appropriately credentialed and possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught
- Maintain licenses and any appropriate certifications to continue teaching at Walden University
- Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
Responsibilities
- Educate Walden University students effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources
- Impart knowledge, information, feedback, and critique to students through thoughtful, well-written, and timely communications
- Adhere to all Walden University Faculty expectations
- Complete specific training provided by Walden University in teaching techniques, use of the electronic learning platform, policies, procedures, and degree programs
- Teach assigned courses using the eCollege platform, interacting with students within the platform
- Respond to student questions within 48 hours as per the faculty handbook
- Verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions, providing feedback and grades through Blackboard
- Be reasonably accessible to students outside the course discussion board
- Provide substantive feedback on assignments and postings
- Publish availability to students through course syllabi, instructor information, and/or other appropriate documents
- Attend Residencies (domestically or internationally, optional for part-time faculty), teaching intensives and colloquia, and facilitating discussions
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Comply with all policies and standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Have two years or more of online or technology-enabled instruction experience
- Have 3+ years of teaching experience at the degree level of the program
- Have 2+ years of online or technology-enabled instruction experience
- Have experience with distance learning
Benefits
- Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Opportunities for dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
