Requirements

• Earned doctorate (PhD) in the field of study or closely related field
• Three or more years of teaching experience at the degree level of the program
• Significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field
• Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students in a distance learning environment
• Teaching, advising, and mentoring skills
• Commitment to the promotion of applied research
• Commitment to the recruitment and development of a diverse faculty
• Excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills
• Ability to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat
• Reliable internet access and alternate access in case of primary access failure

Responsibilities

• Interact with students within the university’s learning management system
• Post to classroom discussion boards in a timely manner
• Respond to student questions within 48 hours
• Verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions
• Provide feedback and grades to students
• Be reasonably accessible to students outside the course discussion board
• Publish availability to students through course syllabi, instructor information, and/or other appropriate documents
• Attend Residencies (Core Faculty only), teaching intensives and colloquia, and facilitating discussions
• Chair and/or participate on thesis/dissertation committees
• Supervise field training and skill development courses (some faculty)
• Serve on faculty governance or academic policy committees
• Participate in activities to strengthen Walden University's academic reputation
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Comply with all policies and standards
