Summary

Join Lead Bank, a fintech building banking infrastructure, as a Corporate Counsel. You will be a key member of the risk team, supporting both traditional banking products and Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) initiatives. The role involves providing legal advice, negotiating contracts, managing litigation, and staying updated on banking regulations. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and contribute to building efficient legal processes. Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to practice law in good standing for at least one jurisdiction in the United States
  • 3+ years experience, ideally in the banking/financial services industry
  • In-depth experience with contract negotiation and litigation strategies
  • Understands, interprets, and applies banking laws and regulations to innovative environments such as fintech
  • Critical-thinker with the ability to be practical and balance competing risks (legal and non-legal)
  • Eager to collaborate/compromise to get to the best, most efficient outcome
  • Strong judgment, good instincts and sharp analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally to align stakeholders on the goals and behaviors required for success
  • Welcomes divergent opinions and perspectives
  • Intellectually curious self-starter that likes to roll up your sleeves

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support in pre-litigation and litigation as needed, including in cases of borrower defaults, bankruptcies, and collections
  • Support our vendor management team and cross-functional stakeholders in analyzing and negotiating vendor contracts and advising on related risks
  • Provide legal and regulatory guidance regarding vendor contracting, non-disclosure agreements, litigation and other corporate legal matters
  • Stay abreast of relevant banking and lending regulations, legislation, and other developments and trends that may impact the company and its BaaS vertical
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
