Requirements
- Post-Secondary Education in Accounting
- Certified Professional Accounting (CPA) designation or working towards one
- Proven experience in cost accounting or related field, preferably in manufacturing or production environment
- Proficiency in cost accounting methodologies, financial analysis tools, and ERP systems
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- Solid understanding of GAAP and relevant accounting standards
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Update and maintain standard costs and rate models
- Conduct regular analysis of production variances, planned material prices, standard production activity rates and overhead allocation rates
- Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventories
- Audit work orders from the production floor for manufacturing and kitting assembly
- Daily Inventory uploads and raising the inventory issues within the company to seek possible resolution
- Monitoring of inventory transactions posted by Supply chain to ensure proper Inventory and GL impact
- Ensuring attachment of proper documentation with the posted transactions in the Inventory and purchase module
- Reconciliation of Month end Inventory reports per SKU
- Assist in Conducting detailed analysis of production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses
- Monitor inventory levels and valuation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
- Determine the cost of producing goods or services, considering direct and indirect costs. Collaborate with production teams to accurately allocate costs and establish pricing strategies
- Implement cost control measures to mitigate cost overruns and improve operational efficiency. Identify areas of inefficiency and recommend process improvements to reduce costs
- Prepare and analyze cost-related financial reports, such as cost of goods sold (COGS), manufacturing variances, and cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis. Present findings to management and provide recommendations for cost optimization
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements related to cost accounting. Assist in internal and external audits by providing relevant cost data and documentation
- Collaborate with departments across the organization, including finance, production, procurement, and sales, to gather cost-related information and support business objectives
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in cost accounting. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend implementation strategies
- Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries and assist with the balancing of inventory ending quantities
- Assist in management of the costing process for the Group of Companies
