Join Airbnb's Legal team as Counsel, Employment & Ethics! This role requires a highly adaptable and collaborative attorney with 4-6+ years of experience in employment and ethics matters. You will provide legal advice on global employment and ethics issues, support key business partners, drive cross-functional projects to improve policies and practices, manage employment disputes and investigations, and support Airbnb's commitment to an inclusive and ethical workplace. The position is US-remote eligible, requiring you to reside in a state where Airbnb has a registered entity. This role offers a competitive salary range of $191,000-$225,000 USD, plus potential bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits. You'll work with a global team, collaborating with diverse international colleagues and contributing to a forward-thinking legal department.
Requirements
- Creative, flexible and experienced attorney
- 4-6+ years of relevant experience with a significant amount focused on employment and ethics matters
- Strong, proven ability to work cross functionally with business partners and executives
- Experience leading and/or advising on investigations
- General experience working in an international and multicultural working environment with geographically dispersed team members
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and pressurized environment and to act decisively
- Provide quick, concise, and practical legal advice consistent with Airbnb’s business objectives
- Advise and problem-solve proactively where necessary
- A passion for Airbnb’s mission, with a strong knowledge and interest in travel
- A team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Qualified lawyer with Bar admission in the United States
Responsibilities
- Provide legal and strategic advice and counsel to internal clients and legal colleagues on a range of global employment and ethics issues, including prevention of harassment and discrimination, compensation and benefits, performance management, reorganizations, accommodations and leaves of absence, wage and hour law, mobility, contingent workforce, conflicts of interest, and other matters involving Airbnb’s ethics policies
- Support key Employee Experience and business partners on complex and challenging employment and ethics issues; delivering clear, practical advice that enables our business partners to achieve their objectives while mitigating legal risk and keeping the interests of all stakeholders at the forefront
- Drive and support on cross-functional projects to improve our global employment and ethics policies and practices to ensure compliance with business objectives and federal, state and local laws
- Support execution of our compliance communications strategy
- Manage employment issues, disputes, and internal investigations
- Support Airbnb’s conflict of interest disclosure process, including review and approval of potential employee conflicts and gift and entertainment requests, as well as policy training
- Track Airbnb’s company compliance with new laws and regulations, specifically with regard to employment, anti-bribery and corruption and other relevant compliance topics, working closely with our public policy, and regional legal teams
- Be a trusted and collaboration-oriented partner across Employee Experience global functions
- Support Airbnb’s commitment to building and maintaining an inclusive and ethical workplace, free of discrimination and harassment
