Requirements
- Current California Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) license (required)
- In-depth knowledge of California procedural rules, legal terminology, and transcript formatting standards
- Significant experience in court reporting, with proven supervisory or leadership experience
- Proficiency with CAT software (e.g., Case CATalyst, Eclipse) and digital audio review tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote or hybrid environment
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- A collaborative mindset with a commitment to upholding the highest professional standards
- Comfort with a mix of live proceedings, remote work, and operational oversight
Responsibilities
- Produce and deliver high-quality, verbatim transcripts of depositions, hearings, and legal proceedings
- Use CAT software (e.g., Case CATalyst, Eclipse) and digital audio tools to scope, proofread, and finalize transcripts
- Ensure all work complies with California court reporting requirements, procedural rules, and industry best practices
- Appear for live proceedings in a certified stenographic capacity as needed
- Manage and supervise a team of court reporters, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of proceedings
- Oversee daily and master schedules for court reporters, ensuring coverage for all assigned matters
- Conduct quality control reviews of transcripts, formats, and procedural compliance
- Consult on transcript formatting, compliance questions, and workflow improvements
- Maintain and oversee the creation and secure storage of official court records
- Participate in strategic planning, including recruitment, resource allocation, and process optimization for the court reporting unit
- Onboard and train new reporters, providing guidance on California-specific practices
- Foster professional growth through ongoing education and development initiatives
- Implement strategies to support staff retention and performance excellence
- Audit transcript orders, reporter invoices, and procedural workflows for accuracy and efficiency
- Address and resolve issues related to performance, procedural compliance, and client satisfaction
