Summary

Join Planet as a Customer Success Manager focused on State and Local Government, serving as a trusted advisor to agencies across North America. You will help agencies derive maximum value from Planet’s satellite imagery and geospatial solutions, supporting mission-critical initiatives in areas such as emergency response, environmental monitoring, and natural resource management. Deepen customer engagement, drive adoption of Planet products, and identify growth opportunities within your portfolio. Build relationships with state and municipal agencies, understanding regional priorities, and translating challenges into impactful geospatial solutions. This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States with the expectation of working from a local office 3 days per week if located nearby. The role involves building trusted relationships with customers, driving product adoption, identifying expansion opportunities, advocating for customer needs, and collaborating with various teams.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in Customer Success, Account Management, or related roles—ideally working with state or local government agencies
  • Understanding of public sector workflows, procurement processes, and funding cycles
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to a wide range of audiences from analysts to government executives
  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Product, Support, and Engineering teams
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities
  • Willingness to travel as needed

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with state and local government customers to help them achieve strategic goals using Planet’s technology
  • Drive product adoption through onboarding, training, and tailored guidance on best practices
  • Identify expansion and renewal opportunities, partnering with Sales to secure long-term value for customers
  • Advocate for customer needs internally, surfacing feedback to influence product development and roadmap prioritization
  • Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Marketing to develop use cases, success stories, and public sector engagement strategies
  • Provide proactive support and account planning for key renewals, budget cycles, and legislative timelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working directly with U.S. state or municipal government agencies
  • Knowledge of key public sector challenges—climate adaptation, land use planning, infrastructure resiliency, emergency response
  • Proficiency with tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, or Google Earth Engine
  • Experience navigating data-sharing agreements or government contract mechanisms
