Join the Research Strategy Team at AlphaSense as a Data Analyst. This role involves converting data analytics insights into actionable projects, managing data unification from multiple vendors, leading QA initiatives, planning for new vendor integrations, ensuring vendor SLAs are met, preparing datasets for analysis and QA, improving data quality, extrapolating findings, identifying and solving data issues, and collaborating with engineers, analysts, and product managers. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SQL, have experience with large datasets, and possess excellent problem-solving and organizational skills. A Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3-5 years of experience in market data within a finance context are required. Requirements
- Proficient in SQL to write, debug, and optimize complex queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
- Proven ability to extract and manipulate/analyze large datasets
- Excellent logic and problem solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines and to work independently
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business or related field is required
- 3-5 years working with market data in a finance context, with experience working with engineering teams
Responsibilities
- Convert insights derived from data analytics into actionable projects/requirements
- Manage unification of multiple vendors’ datasets into a singular dataset
- Ideate, plan and lead QA initiatives across multiple datasets
- Proactively scope and plan for integration of new vendors’ datasets
- Ensure vendors are meeting committed SLAs
- Prepare large quantitative dataset for analysis and QA
- Proactively identify and create screens and processes to improve/maintain data quality
- Extrapolate findings from analysis and create actionable next steps
- Identify and solve issues present in data; such as missing values and errors
- Work collaboratively with engineers, analysts and product managers
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to automate routine reporting tasks using Python, R, or Excel VBA is an asset
- Exposure to cloud-based data services (e.g., Snowflake, Google BigQuery) for scalable analytics is nice to have
- Demonstrated interested in finance and/or financial services is preferred
