Summary
Join a leading British leisure and holiday company as a Data Engineer within the Foundation Tribe. This role focuses on managing and enhancing the company's data warehouse, ensuring alignment with best practices and internal standards. You will translate business requirements into efficient datasets, design data models using dbt, and oversee data layer management in Snowflake. The ideal candidate possesses over 4 years of hands-on data engineering experience, strong data warehousing principles, and expertise in dbt and SQL. Experience with Snowflake and Git is essential. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are also required. This is a contract position offering competitive hourly rates.
Requirements
- Over 4 years of hands-on experience in data engineering or analytics engineering
- Strong grasp of data warehousing principles, with expertise in dimensional modeling
- Skilled in data transformation using dbt Core and/or dbt Cloud, along with advanced SQL proficiency
- Experience working with Snowflake or similar cloud-based data warehouse platforms
- Comfortable using Git for version control and collaboration
- Analytical and results-oriented, with excellent problem-solving capabilities
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork
- Fluent in English, with outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Responsibilities
- Manage and enhance the company's data warehouse, ensuring alignment with best practices and internal standards
- Translate business requirements into efficient, reliable datasets within the Data Lake and oversee data layer management in Snowflake
- Design and implement data models, views, and aggregates using dbt
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in implementing and maintaining data quality standards
- Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and its ecosystem
- Hands-on experience with Python for data-related tasks or automation
- Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices
- Prior experience in mentoring or coaching team members is a strong advantage
