Data Engineer

Summary

BioRender is hiring a Senior/Staff Data Engineer to build the foundation of their data infrastructure and systems. The role involves architecting data flows, warehouse, processes, and schemas to create a world-class data platform that scales with the company and drives business growth. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, have a growth mindset, strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and 5+ years of relevant experience.

Requirements

• 5+ years of data engineering experience of relevant industry experience
• Expertise working with Data Warehousing platforms (AWS RedShift or Snowflake preferred)
• Experience with Data Streaming platforms (AWS Kinesis / Firehose preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex architectural problems, think about tradeoffs and systems design
• Effective communication skills and ability to translate deeply technical designs into business appropriate representations as well as analyze business needs and requirements ensuring implementation of data services directly correlates to the strategy and growth of the business
• Expertise with SQL and programming languages commonly used in data platforms (Python, Spark, etc)
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration (e.g., Airflow) and data pipeline integrations (e.g. Airbyte, Stitch)

Responsibilities

• Architect data flows, warehouse, processes, and schemas to create a world-class data platform that scales with the company and drives business growth
• Identify key areas of improvement in our data infrastructure and work cross-functionally to develop a plan to execute on the highest impact improvements
• Help define and implement reliable and extendable standards for moving data between our production environment and data warehouse
• Ensure that we have alerting and monitoring at all potential points of failure in our data infrastructure
• Create efficient data pipelines to ingest and move data across different environments and services
• Help define scalable workflows and setup data infrastructure, processes and documentation that will enable data scientists, and analysts to develop deep analyses
• Create data products and processes to enable self-service analytics, predictive analytics, content recommendation and personalization in our core product
