Summary

Join Climate Arc, a philanthropic organization accelerating climate transitions, as a Data Engineer. You will design, build, and maintain our data warehouse, collaborating with the Research and Program team and stakeholders. Analyze and organize raw data, build data systems and pipelines, interpret trends, conduct complex data analysis, and prepare data for modeling. You will also build algorithms, combine data from various sources, enhance data quality, identify acquisition opportunities, and develop analytical tools. Requirements

  • You have previous experience as a data engineer or in a similar role
  • You understand the concept of managing data pipelines as code and have experience with git, CI/CD
  • You can collect, collate, cleanse, synthesise and interpret data to derive meaningful and actionable insights
  • You have technical expertise with data models & data mining and translate data into valuable insights that inform decisions
  • You have experience with major cloud platforms, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure or AWS (Google Cloud preferred)
  • You have deep understanding of SQL and data processing tools like dbt and are comfortable working with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
  • You have been working with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query and can build data processing products in python

Responsibilities

  • Analyse and organize raw data

  • Interpret trends and patterns
  • Conduct complex data analysis and report on results
  • Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modelling
  • Build algorithms and prototypes
  • Combine raw information from different sources
  • Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
  • Identify opportunities for data acquisition
  • Develop analytical tools and programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • You have experience with financial databases e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, Capital IQ
  • You have an understanding of green software practices, data mesh, master data management
  • You can communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context
  • You can design, write and iterate code from prototype to production-ready
  • You can effectively translate and accurately communicate across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • You can develop fit-for-purpose, resilient, scalable and future-proof data services to meet user needs
  • You have a degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field or equivalent experience
