Data Engineer

Summary

The job is for a Data Engineer at Planted, a spin-off from ETH Zurich focused on plant-based meat production. The role involves designing and implementing data infrastructure, working with large datasets, building scalable software, improving code quality, and contributing to technology and product development.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience deploying code in a production environment
• Proficiency in Python programming
• Strong data design skills with SQL/NoSQL with typical platforms such as MySQL, Postgresql, MongoDB
• Experience working with cloud services (preferably AWS)
• Experience with integrating and aggregating data from multiple sources
• Ability to work in diverse teams and deal with ambiguity
• Ability to explore, learn, and master new data sets quickly
• Knowledge of Kanban, Agile, Scrum, continuous delivery and deployment
• Very good communication skills towards internal and external parties as well as very high customer and service orientation
• Fluent in English

Responsibilities

• Validate and design a strong data infrastructure, using appropriate tools & technologies
• Work on the collecting, storing, processing, transforming, and analyzing of large datasets
• Build robust, understandable, and highly scalable software and services
• Help improve code quality through writing unit tests, automation and performing code reviews
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas to their technology, algorithms and products
• Help them to navigate, transform and manage external data sources, analytics, and activity streams
• Design and build the systems that power decision making
