Data Engineer

Summary

The job is for a Data Engineer at hermeneutic investments, a best-in-class proprietary trading firm specializing in cryptocurrency market opportunities. The role involves contributing to the data platform for sophisticated and robust analytical systems that consume large amounts of historical and real-time data.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in building and operating large-scale distributed systems or applications
• Significant experience in developing analytics and managing data lakes or data warehouses in an AWS based Unix/Linux environment
• Expertise in developing data structures, algorithms on top of Big Data platforms
• Strong working knowledge of Python, Node.JS , Scala, and/or Go, fluency with Unix shell/command line tools
• Experience with database tuning in PostgreSQL and experience with NoSQL DBs such as MongoDB
• Able to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment; Good sense of urgency, resourcefulness and independence
• Good team player with a strong willingness to participate and help others
• Excellent English communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Architect and build systems that scales across multiple data sources with the flexibility to add/remove/modify various calculated metrics
• Design and develop data pipelines, work closely with cross-functional teams to develop automation tools that streamline daily operations
• Develop and automate data processing pipelines for data modeling, analysis, and reporting from various sources
• Hands-on development of data models and experience with visualization frameworks will be required
• Ensure the quality of documentation and release notes for developers and users alike

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with basics of cryptocurrency trading and blockchain network/protocols preferred
