Data Platform Engineer I

Summary

Join Tala's Data Platform Engineering team and build the infrastructure for a best-in-class decision engine. Collaborate with Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, and Analytics Engineers to set up, maintain, and evolve infrastructure and tooling. You will work with QA, Product, and Business teams to define project needs and negotiate scopes. Understanding project goals and their alignment with the business is crucial. This role requires excellent communication and experience in software engineering using Python and Git. Tala is a mission-driven company focused on financial inclusion, offering a remote-first work environment.

Requirements

• Experience working on software engineering, using Python
• Experience with Git

Responsibilities

• Serve internal clients by setting up, maintaining, and evolving infrastructure
• Work collaboratively with QA, Product, and Business teams to identify project needs and negotiate scopes of work
• Understand project goals clearly and grasp how they fit into the larger scope of our business

Preferred Qualifications

• Worked on a cloud and deployed a personal project in AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Did freelancing during their university years
