Summary

Requirements

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in product or related field with at least 3+ years specifically focused on data products
  • Experience navigating competing priorities, presenting options and then proactively driving solutions; lead and influence others without direct authority
  • Skilled in comprehending and discussing data architecture and technical solutions around data and data processes with engineers; especially around data pipelines, system integrations, and ensuring data quality and scalability
  • Strong understanding of product development processes, project management tools, and Agile methodologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas into tangible requirements
  • Deeply collaborative approach to problem-solving that generates buy-in and clear product direction with other teams like customer success, engineering, marketing, and sales throughout the whole product life cycle
  • Shown ability to work within fast-paced cross-functional teams with demonstrated flexibility to get things done within set timelines in order to serve cyclical nature of political work
  • Passion for creative problem solving and iterative approach to development
  • Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity to detailed solutions
  • Committed to leveraging technology and data products to help Democratic candidates run for office and win, empower progressive causes, and increase civic participation
  • Must be available to attend daily stand-up meetings at 9:00a MT/8:00a PT

Responsibilities

  • Create and build consensus on product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a variety of internal and external data products
  • Partner with the RunningMate product manager and the rest of the product team to deeply understand the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for RunningMate and align our data products and priorities to those strategies
  • Work daily with our data team of engineers, data scientists, data acquisition specialists, and project managers to execute sprint goals, product requirements, acceptance criteria, and any other product artifacts needed during sprints and project work to ensure a shared understanding of requirements for team and stakeholders
  • Clearly and regularly communicate out to leadership, stakeholders, and technical staff decisions made around roadmap direction, timing, challenges, successes, and progress
  • Attend stand-ups and other meetings to serve as the main contact for engineers and technical staff to guide technical implementation
  • Use metrics, customer feedback, and market research to understand the political/campaign industry and optimize the development of data features and projects to solve real user problems in ways that optimize our users’ experiences and personas
  • Actively participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retros for the data and applications teams
  • Track key performance metrics to guide product decisions and roadmap
  • Work with customer success and marketing teams to communicate data product updates to customers and to align product goals to company and go-to-market goals and strategies
  • Participate in political events that promote, train, and/or directly use our tools and systems
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure clear and efficient communication during all phases of the product development cycle

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the political tech ecosystem
  • Hands-on experience or knowledge of U.S. elections administration and/or campaign operations
  • Experience working with startup companies
  • Ability to provide a portfolio with sample work product
