Summary
Join a fast-growing, flexible, and remote-first tech scale-up as a Data Protection Expert. You will act as the primary data protection expert for a set of customers, delivering outstanding service through the Trust Keith platform. Responsibilities include managing the implementation of comprehensive privacy programs, leading customer-facing calls and meetings, managing data protection queries, conducting data protection audits, and collaborating with other teams. You will need 4+ years of experience in a data protection-oriented role, relevant certifications (CIPM, CIPP/E, LLM, or IAPP membership), and experience with various data protection regulations. The role requires strong customer-facing skills, risk management expertise, and the ability to simplify complex topics. This is a contractor role with a flexible schedule, offering a daily rate of £550 plus a performance-based bonus.
Requirements
- Are able to commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing to 32 or more as business needs evolve between Monday and Friday, UK time zone and are happy to build your customer portfolio based on Trust Keith’s gradual growth
- You have at least 4+ years of experience in a data protection-oriented role
- Have certifications such as CIPM, CIPP/E, LLM, or IAPP membership
- You have proven experience navigating a broad spectrum of data protection regulations (such as UK/EU GDPR, PECR, and CCPA), applicable across the UK, Europe, and global markets
- Are self-motivated, thrive on working independently, and can manage your workload effectively without constant oversight
- You have worked with multiple customer/contractor roles
- You have exceptional customer-facing and stakeholder management skills to build and maintain excellent customer relationships
- You understand risk management, including monitoring, advising and reporting on risks
- You can simplify complex topics
- You have experience creating data protection documentation and assets (such as IARs, RoPAs, privacy notices, etc.), handling data subject access requests and breaches
- You are tech-savvy, eager to embrace new tools and push boundaries
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary Data Protection Expert for a set of Trust Keith customers, independently delivering consistently outstanding service
- Manage the implementation and delivery of a comprehensive privacy programme through the Trust Keith platform, ensuring progress aligns with agreed customer expectations
- Lead customer-facing calls, including Risk Committee meetings and monthly workshops, leveraging the Trust Keith platform to identify and communicate priority risks, and resolve data privacy challenges
- Manage customers’ data protection support queries in line with data compliance requirements and our SLAs
- Develop an in-depth understanding of your customers' risks and priorities by conducting data protection audits (which our platform makes easy)
- Actively share both customer insights and your feedback on our platform with the Product Team to drive continuous improvement and innovation
- Collaborate with Customer Success, Product, and Operations to enhance our service, operations, and contribute to the growth and development of our product
- Work closely with our Lead DPO and the wider team of privacy experts, contributing to the growth and culture of our privacy department by sharing best practices and knowledge
Preferred Qualifications
Experience navigating data protection challenges relating to sensitive data, AI, healthcare, finance, or education would be an advantage
