You will be responsible for developing and optimizing style recommendation algorithms, collaborating with cross-functional teams, overseeing the algorithm development lifecycle, and managing key algorithmic projects. This role requires a strong background in machine learning, data science, and algorithm design, particularly in areas related to fashion, recommendations, or personalization. You will also need experience with A/B testing, experimentation frameworks, and performance metrics, as well as familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure and distributed systems.

Requirements

  • Excel at building trust with your team, stakeholders, and technical partners
  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • And know how to achieve alignment without resorting to micromanagement
  • Have a strong background in machine learning, data science, and algorithm design, preferably in areas related to fashion, recommendations, or personalization (5+ years of experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership/management role)
  • Have experience with A/B testing, experimentation frameworks, and performance metrics
  • Are familiar with cloud-based infrastructure and distributed systems

Responsibilities

  • Directly shape product strategy: Leverage data-driven insights to influence Stitch Fix’s broader business and enhance the client experience
  • Drive measurable business impact: Utilize data science to improve client engagement, personalization, and overall growth
  • Lead a team building transformative capabilities at the heart of our company’s value proposition
  • Drive the development and optimization of style recommendation algorithms, ensuring they provide personalized, relevant, and engaging fashion recommendations
  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, UX/UI designers, and business leaders to define key performance metrics and product goals
  • Oversee the end-to-end algorithm development lifecycle—from ideation and experimentation to testing and deployment
  • Manage the prioritization and execution of key algorithmic projects while balancing business needs, technical feasibility, and timelines
  • Implement best practices for team collaboration, code quality, and data management
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in AI, machine learning, and fashion technology
  • Provide continuous feedback and foster a growth-oriented culture within the team
  • Establish a clear vision and roadmap for the development of styling algorithms and continuously drive improvements based on data-driven insights
