Data Scientist II

Summary

Join Tripadvisor's Data Science/Machine Learning team as an experienced scientist focusing on the Hotels Auction platform. You will apply your modeling and engineering skills to predictive modeling and auction dynamics, deploying solutions online and observing their impact. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including ML scientists, analysts, product managers, and engineers. Take ownership of projects and identify opportunities to apply machine learning for business improvement. Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related quantitative field (or Masters with 2+ years of practical experience)
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong foundation in machine learning and statistics
• Solid foundation on data structures and algorithms
• Proficiency in Python

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design and deployment of machine learning models to solve a variety of core business problems across the Experiences business
• Seek out new opportunities to apply data science and machine learning in the Experiences space
• Prototype, evaluate, deploy and maintain new models in production
• Design A/B tests and analyze their results
• Communicate progress and interpretation of model output/performance to technical and business stakeholders
• Participate in the determination of next steps for each project

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with sort and recommendation modeling a plus
• Experience working with real-world data strongly preferred
• Previous industry experience a plus
