Data Scientist, Risk

Join Found as a Risk Data Scientist and become a key player in our Risk team, responsible for identifying, mitigating, and managing financial and operational risks across our product offerings. You will collaborate with Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Operations teams to build scalable risk controls and ensure a seamless, secure user experience. This role involves analyzing financial data, transaction patterns, and user behavior to assess risks; developing and implementing automated risk controls; contributing strategic insights and recommendations to leadership; and optimizing risk management processes. Found seeks a highly motivated, data-driven individual passionate about creating a robust risk management framework in a fast-paced fintech environment. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in analytics or data science and strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Requirements

• 5+ years in Analytics or Data Science
• A strong analytical mindset and are comfortable working with large datasets to derive actionable insights. You are skilled in using tools like SQL, Python, or other analytical software
• Strong communication skills, the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex risk issues and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience effectively influencing and partnering with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals

Responsibilities

• Analyze and Assess Risk: Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data, transaction patterns, and user behavior to identify and assess potential credit, fraud, and compliance risks
• Develop and Implement Risk Controls: Partner with product, engineering and data science teams to design, build, and deploy automated risk controls and decisioning systems that balance user experience with platform safety
• Contribute to Strategic Planning: Provide valuable insights and recommendations to leadership on risk trends, policy improvements, and long-term risk strategy to support Found's growth and expansion
• Optimize Processes: Proactively identify areas for improvement in existing risk management processes and workflows, and drive initiatives to increase efficiency and scalability

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working at a fintech
• Previous startup experience
• Prior experience in risk with a fintech or financial services risk role
