Summary
Join RxSense as a SQL Server DBA/Database Architect to provide day-to-day database support for .NET applications using SQL Server on AWS RDS. You will diagnose performance, support QA and dev teams, manage tasks in Jira, participate in code releases, manage replication jobs, review Git pull requests, respond to reporting requests, apply patches, assist auditors, and provide cross-functional support. The role requires participation in an on-call rotation for critical issues. You will also provide system designs for data migrations and replication, and offer direction on data and schema mapping. Requirements
- 10 years of experience as a production support SQL Server DBA, preferably in an AWS or GCP environment, or in other cloud environments (or related data systems experience)
- Proficient with TSQL, DML, DDL, SSMS
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Must understand how to interpret a query plan, have deep knowledge of indexes and statistics
- Able to respond to calls within the SLA when on-call
- Able to import/export data using common SQL Server tools such as BCP, SSIS or Powershell
- Proficient with Powershell (particularly dbatools) and a working knowledge of Bash
- Experience with source control systems such as Git, TFS, SVN
- Passion for embracing and learning new technologies
- Experience with High Availability techniques to ensure maximum uptime when adding indexes, modifying large amounts of data, patching, and re-sizing instances
- Experience working with government (Medicaid, Medicare) security and government policies such as ISPE, ARS, GRC
Responsibilities
- Use monitoring tools to diagnose performance opportunities and provide suggestions and feedback to developers
- Support the QA and dev teams with backups/restores of databases and instance snapshots
- Manage assigned tasks within the Jira ticket system
- Participate in bi-weekly production code releases and hot fixes
- Manage replication jobs in data replication tool (CloudBasic)
- Review Git pull requests that relate to data model, query, or schema changes
- Respond to ad hoc reporting requests
- Apply patches and updates
- Assist auditors to respond to internal and external audit requests
- Provide cross-functional communication and support to engineering and product teams
- Provide system designs for data migrations, data replication between systems, and data management
- Participate in a weekly rotation for on-call support for critical business impacting issues outside of what the DBA NOC can triage
- Provide direction for SQL relational and non-relational data and schema mapping, idexes, and performance
Preferred Qualifications
- MySQL
- MongoDB
- PBM or Healthcare based business experience preferred
