Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with PostgreSQL, including advanced query optimization and performance tuning
  • Strong knowledge of indexing strategies, query execution plans, and database internals
  • Experience managing AWS RDS for PostgreSQL in production environments
  • Hands-on experience with AWS DMS for data migration and replication
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and scripting (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation
  • Strong experience with database backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize database performance under real-world constraints
  • U.S. Citizenship is required. Must be able to receive and maintain a public trust

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL databases ensuring high availability, reliability, and security
  • Perform query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning to enhance database efficiency
  • Manage database monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning to ensure optimal performance
  • Work with AWS RDS for database deployment, maintenance, and automation
  • Utilize AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) for database migration and replication
  • Collaborate with development teams to implement best practices for data modeling, schema design, and ETL processes
  • Work with AWS data services such as Kinesis, EventBridge, Athena, Glue, and Firehose to support data processing and analytics
  • Develop and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery plans for mission-critical systems
  • Ensure database security, compliance, and governance following industry standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS data services (Kinesis, EventBridge, Athena, Glue, Firehose)
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, Redis, etc.) in AWS environments
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL pipelines
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices for database deployments
  • Current DHS public trust preferred or DOD top secret with a current BI within the last 3 years
