Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with PostgreSQL, including advanced query optimization and performance tuning
- Strong knowledge of indexing strategies, query execution plans, and database internals
- Experience managing AWS RDS for PostgreSQL in production environments
- Hands-on experience with AWS DMS for data migration and replication
- Proficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and scripting (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation
- Strong experience with database backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize database performance under real-world constraints
- U.S. Citizenship is required. Must be able to receive and maintain a public trust
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL databases ensuring high availability, reliability, and security
- Perform query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning to enhance database efficiency
- Manage database monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning to ensure optimal performance
- Work with AWS RDS for database deployment, maintenance, and automation
- Utilize AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) for database migration and replication
- Collaborate with development teams to implement best practices for data modeling, schema design, and ETL processes
- Work with AWS data services such as Kinesis, EventBridge, Athena, Glue, and Firehose to support data processing and analytics
- Develop and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery plans for mission-critical systems
- Ensure database security, compliance, and governance following industry standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS data services (Kinesis, EventBridge, Athena, Glue, Firehose)
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, Redis, etc.) in AWS environments
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL pipelines
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices for database deployments
- Current DHS public trust preferred or DOD top secret with a current BI within the last 3 years
