Database Engineer - Integrations / Platform

Summary

Join Degreed as a Senior Database Developer and contribute to our Integration Engineering team, focusing on building high-performance, scalable data import pipelines. You will develop and optimize complex stored procedures for large-scale data ingestion, implement delta logic, ensure transactional integrity, and build logging and monitoring mechanisms. Modernize legacy data import logic and collaborate with engineering teams to improve pipeline efficiency and scalability. This role requires 5+ years of experience with MS SQL Server and T-SQL, a deep understanding of stored procedures, and experience with transaction management. Requirements

• 5+ years experience with MS SQL Server and T-SQL
• Deep understanding of stored procedures and high-volume data handling
• Experience with transaction management , batch processing, and error handling
• Exposure to monitoring/logging tools and data observability practices
• Familiarity with ETL patterns and external system integrations

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize complex stored procedures for large-scale data ingestion
• Implement delta logic (insert, update, delete, skip) to track changes efficiently
• Ensure transactional integrity and handle rollback/commit scenarios safely
• Build logging and monitoring mechanisms to track ingestion performance and failures
• Modernize legacy data import logic with batching, indexing, retry handling, and performance tuning
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve pipeline efficiency and scalability

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure (Service Bus, Data Factory)
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture or modernizing legacy database code
• Experience in LMS or enterprise data integration environments
